I’m Q Porschatis (she/her), a trauma therapist based in Salt Lake City and founder of Salty Counseling. I specialize in EMDR, Polyvagal Theory, and somatic approaches to help you stop just coping and start feeling genuinely better—calmer, clearer, and more connected to yourself.

At Salty Counseling, I go deeper. I use a specialized combination of EMDR, Polyvagal Theory, and Somatic Therapy to get to the source of anxiety, trauma, and stress. Together, we’ll map how your nervous system responds to the world, uncover the stories trauma taught you to believe, and gently rewire those patterns so you can step into a more confident, calm, and unapologetic version of yourself.

I’m here to actively engage in the work with you. That means using evidence-based tools that are goal-driven and built to create lasting change—not just temporary relief.

Through EMDR therapy, we identify and reprocess the unresolved memories and experiences that keep triggering distress in your everyday life. This isn’t about endlessly revisiting your past—it’s about upgrading how your brain and body store and respond to it, so you can stop living in survival mode and start truly living.

I’m one of the few therapists who offer EMDR to fidelity, following the full 8-phase protocol developed by Dr. Francine Shapiro. When done correctly, EMDR can resolve trauma at the neurological level—not just manage symptoms.

We’ll also work with Polyvagal Theory, which helps you understand how your nervous system works and how to regulate it. You’ll gain practical tools for calming your body, building safety from the inside out, and supporting your Vagus nerve functioning—an essential step before diving into trauma work.
